What have I missed - IE9 errors

Just starting out. Have started to adapt pages but having no joy on IE9.

http://stewartdavies.hostei.com/

whenever you click on any item of the main menu it moves along but then everything stops working.  On f5 refresh it works again for one button press but that's it.  Similarly viewing a page, e.g. by clicking on Welcome tile, works fine for first click but on returning to page via HOME main menu, page does not load correctly and tiles get 'Stuck'.

Errors only occur on IE9, when I use firefox or chrome it works beautifully.  Are there restrictions on the type of tile I can use for IE9?

Using V4

Thanks for any help.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Which version are you running (you can check that on top of the index.php page)

This bug existed a relatively long time ago for a short time (one or two days), and has been fixed in updates.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Thanks for your support, really do appreciate it.

Just deleted all the old version and uploaded v4b1.  Now I have the same problem as I find on your home page.

When the page loads all of the tiles just disappear when viewing in IE9.

Sorry, and thanks for your help so far.

Sandfi,

just out of curiousity: Do you have the same issues on my website?
I'm on v4b1 as well.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Lovely looking website Pie.   No issues on IE9 using your site.  www.netzwerkstudio.de but do have a problem viewing metro-webdesign.info and my own website.

LATEST DEVELOPMENT: I only have an issue viewing these on a small screen - on my high res monitor where everything fits on the page there is no issue.  As soon as I restore down the page so that it is smaller then the screen disappears.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Hi Sandfi,

thanks for the flowers!
Feel free to use the tutorials to add some fancy stuff to your site, if you like :-)

Regarding your Problem: It sounds like it has something to do with "rearranging" the tiles. I hope, Thomas Notebook will be up and running soon, so that he could take a look.

Meanwhile, you could try to change some of these params in your config/layout.php and see if it helps:

$autoRearrangeTiles = true; // auto rearrange tiles when it doesn't fit on the browser?
$autoResizeTiles = true; // auto resize tiles when it doesn't fit on the browser? Can cause markup problems!, will only work if $autoRearrangeTiles is enabled
$autoRearrangeEffect = true; // if true, nice transition effect is used when rearranging tiles. Can be laggy if page is heavy, so disable it then.
$rearrangeTreshhold = 3; // from which width the tiles should be rearranged? Just play with this value! Should be smaller than the most wide tilegroup.

Just a wild guess, but what the heck :-)

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Thanks for the tip but I did already set these values to false (and delete cache) and it seems to have no impact.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Okay, I can't replicate it.
Please open your site, press F12 (in IE9) , click on the tab "console" and copypaste here what's coming up there.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

HTML1115: X-UA-Compatible META tag ('IE=edge') ignored because document mode is already finalized.
stewartdavies.hostei.com

Incidentally, if I go to full screen mode (F11) and the tiles now all fit on the page, they do not disappear on IE9, so perhaps the reason you cannot replicate is that your screen is big enough.  Would lowering your resolution help to replicate?

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Do you only get that in your console when the site doesn't work anymore? Because that's normally no reason to stop working.

I can't replicatie it on a 1080p screen with the window made smaller and on a 1440x900 screen I don't have problems neither.

Btw; Repaired my laptop by baking my graphics card in the oven smile

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

No, that message is there all the time, even when it displays, so it is not that. I moved the meta tag further up in index.php and the message went away anyway.

When I zoom out, using View->Zoom->50% on IE it works perfectly.  It is only when the tiles do not fit on.

Can you replicate it if you add a few more tiles in positions:
x=>0, y=>0,
x=>0, y=>1,
x=>0, y=>2,
x=>0, y=>3,
x=>0, y=>4

so that they no longer fit on down the page?

Sorry to be a pain but it is frustrating because we use IE9 in school!

Hope you did some biscuits at the same time!

Thanks
Stewart.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Just to proove a point, now that I have gotten rid of the one tile that was in postion "y"=>2, and changed it to "y"=>1, although the tile overlaps as expected, the page does display normally at normal zoom.

thanks
Stewart.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Well,

in my opinion it would be the same, if we reduce the size of the browser, to recreate the error.
The screensize should not have any influence on the behavior of the site.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Now that I have moved that meta tag in index.php, when I press F12, go to console, then load the page, the page disappears but the console remains empty.

To experiment further I changed the Document:Mode from IE9 standards to IE8 standards I do get stuff in the console:
SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener'
jquery-2.0.0b2.js, line 806 character 4
SCRIPT5009: 'jQuery' is undefined
plugins.js, line 4 character 4
SCRIPT5009: '$group' is undefined
stewartdavies.hostei.com, line 79 character 1
SCRIPT5009: '$' is undefined
plugin.js, line 93 character 1
SCRIPT5009: '$' is undefined
plugin.js, line 4 character 1
SCRIPT5009: '$' is undefined
plugin.js, line 2 character 1
SCRIPT5007: The value of the property '$' is null or undefined, not a Function object
desktop.js, line 1 character 1
SCRIPT5009: '$' is undefined
plugin.js, line 2 character 1
SCRIPT5007: The value of the property '$' is null or undefined, not a Function object
plugin.js, line 2 character 1
SCRIPT5009: '$' is undefined
plugin.js, line 2 character 1
SCRIPT5009: '$' is undefined
plugin.js, line 123 character 1
SCRIPT5009: '$page' is undefined
functions.js, line 11 character 1
SCRIPT5007: The value of the property '$' is null or undefined, not a Function object
main.js, line 127 character 1
SCRIPT5007: The value of the property 'scrollTile' is null or undefined, not a Function object
stewartdavies.hostei.com, line 159 character 1

but I don't know how helpful this is as the page does not load of course, at any magnification and don't think this has much to do with what is happening in IE9 standards.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Pie, you are right of course.  If I set the zoom to 75% it displays fine, then by gradually reducing the browser window size, as soon as it touches the bottom of the lowest tile the whole thing disappears.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

Putting the document mode in a different modus from the browser mode is giving problems because then IE will say it's IE9 to the scripts, but render them as IE8. jQuery has some specific things for IE9/IE8 so it will get messed up.

I really need a log of what happens when in IE9  mode.

Btw; please delete the plugin "autozoom" from your plugins dir.

Re: What have I missed - IE9 errors

I don't know whether this is helpful but:

http://www.screencast.com/t/wzbtZ1yxZ

Deleting the autozoom folder has solved the issue. It now works fine, so I guess you have found where the problem is.

Thanks both for your time so far.  I guess I can just work without the autozoom folder for now?
