Tables in long pages

Nothing major, but I tried in add a table to the end of a lengthy page and found that the page would not extend behind the whole table. I’ve temporarily fixed the issue by adding a short text string after the table.

Re: Tables in long pages

Can you give a link to the page? It'll be easier to find problem than screen only.

For now my guess is that you close some HTML tag improperly (perhaps some div). But I can't be sure.
In my case when table is in the end of the page everything is all right.

Re: Tables in long pages

Hi Chris

Link to the page:

http://www.alechirst.com/#!/team

If I might, I encounter a fewof other issues with this page I yet to debug.

1. After moving away from the page the Tile does not refresh
2. I cannot use the list next to th tiles as it dissappears behind the tiles <= Update - Only in IE

[== Undefined ==]
<h3>List</h3>
<ul>
	<li>Item 1</li>
	<li>Item 2</li>
</ul>

3. I have to clear the chache everytime I make a change or the page do not update. I'm sure there is somethign I've missed along the way but this is the first time I've worked on a website.

Many thanks for you help

Re: Tables in long pages

Table issue:
problem is in styles in class .align-left where there is style "float: left;" which causes the problem.

How to repair: simply remove class align-left for this table.

Re: Tables in long pages

1. (& 3.) What do you mean "After moving away from the page"? Do you mean that you change tiles on main page but you still see previous version of tiles? If yes, clear cache for your page or force page to be fully reloaded (press F5 couple of times or press CTRL+F5).
2. I had the same problem mentioned in this topic. On my page you can see how does page looks like after small change mentioned in this topic.

Cheers.

Re: Tables in long pages

For 1: I mean that on this page if you navigate to another page and then navigate back the LinkedIn tile does not show. The only way to fix is to refresh the page.

Re: Tables in long pages

For point 3: If I make changes to the website I still see the old version until I clear internet files from the browser.

Re: Tables in long pages

1... I'll tell you sth in couple of minutes because I see sth that can cause this behaviour.
2. Unfortunately there is no solution for this problem till now for Opera and IE... In free time I'll try to find another solution for this issue, because it's styles problem - nothing more, even if I'm not good with CSS smile.
3. Even after clicking couple of times F5 or pressing F5 for couple of seconds constantly or clicking CTRL+F5? Something is wrong with your browser not the page.

Re: Tables in long pages

Many thanks for the support.

I've applied your fix to the table.

I can work around issue 2.

If you're not encountering issue 3. it's a positive. I'll take a look over my browser.

Thanks again

Re: Tables in long pages

1. Problem is caused by loading LinkedIn plugin more than once on page loading which causes (as Chrome console says):
duplicate in.js loaded, any parameters will be ignored (for address http://platform.linkedin.com/in.js?_=X).

You should write one more topic about that and see if anybody can handle with this bug because I think I won't be able to help you.

I'd adice you to recreate I frame from LinkedIn as normal code in tile - I mean, open your website, open developer tools in browser, open panel with page code, enter iframe of LinkedIn, copy code in iframe, place this code in your custom tile. It'll work faster, you won't have problems with issue you have now, but in case of any changes, you'll need to remember to change content of this tile. I think it's the easiest solution for your problem for now.

Re: Tables in long pages

Thanks for the advice. I did start with an iframe for this tile but LinkedIn don't support iframing to their site so content is bloked. I've put out a general question about it here:

http://metro-webdesign.info/forum/viewtopic.php?id=557

I'll keep working on a solution with the support and post it here to close out for future users.

Thanks again for the help

Re: Tables in long pages

If you create a file in plugins/linkedin/plugin.php with follwing content:

onEvent("headEnd","linkedin");
function linkedin(){
echo '<script src="http://platform.linkedin.com/in.js" type="text/javascript"></script>';
};

and then put this:

<script type="IN/MemberProfile" data-id="http://www.linkedin.com/in/reidhoffman"
data-format="inline"></script>

on a subpage, does it work?

Re: Tables in long pages

Hi Thomas

Thanks for the possible solution. I've implemented but with no luck.

I'll ponder the issue further.

Many thanks for the support

Re: Tables in long pages

Ok, it's a hacky solution but it works (for me tongue ):

<script>delete IN;$.getScript("http://platform.linkedin.com/in.js")</script>
<script type="IN/MemberProfile" data-id="http://www.linkedin.com/in/reidhoffman"
data-format="inline"></script>
